Once Perfect (Shattered Past, #1) By Cecy Robson

Once Perfect (Shattered Past, #1)Once Perfect by Cecy Robson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I stumbled upon this book by coincidence, and since I have a weakness for a hulking guy with a petite woman I just couldn't resist, and boy how glad I didn't.

This book was a bit different from the line of books I've been reading recently, for one, the circumstances are more realistic the kind that slaps you in the face and you realize shit like that does happen in real life too, it's an eye opener. I'm not saying I'm clueless to the world but still, when stuff like that doesn't happen in your immediate vicinity you tend to get involved in life forgetting for a moment that stuff, and I mean real sick stuff happen. The author showed us the ugliness in the issue but I'm glad she didn't delve deep into it, but kept it in the healing process with all the loved ones around.

Mateo was a big cuddly bear, with of course rough edges when need be. Like most of the hero's I read about I liked him, he was so gentle and kind since the first chapter he didn't push her or anything, he gave her time, space and all the patience in the world. It was obvious he cared for her, in the way he was gentle, jealous and protective, and even his protectiveness wasn't like all caveman type with other men, but also the type that holds her at night and banishes the nightmares away. I loved him for all the moments he was with her.

Evie might look like a petite scardy cat in looks, no she was a fighter, she kinda reminds me of the heroine in The Hurricane, those too have so much in common, but I think in Evie's case it's much worse, but both were fighters nonetheless, and the biggest reason for that is both survived and moved on. I loved how she started to open up to Mateo, and how she went all macho on the club when the incident happen saving the girl, then fighting off cops for Mateo and taking them to the hospital. I liked how even if she was hesitant and scared she pushed herself because she wanted to open up to Mateo, and I liked how she fought for them to stay together, how she didn't just cry and run off, but fought back to stay because they fit together.

Overall, *thumps up* I didn't check the next books in the series till I finished this one, I'm glad the author is doing Mateo's sisters, but I'm a bit disappointed because I wanted to read about their friends from the club especially about Dee and Big Chris
