The Admiral's Penniless Bride By Carla Kelly

The Admiral's Penniless BrideThe Admiral's Penniless Bride by Carla Kelly
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think Ms. Carla Kelly has found herself a new fan in me ^^ I just loved it since the first page, I couldn't stop I practically finished it in hours and that's a new record for me.

Charles was a nice adorable character, hook and all. it's true his impulsive move to propose to a total stranger wasn't common at all, but it was the first step to a great life. Even though he was self-conscious about his age, he didn't sound the 45 yrs old man, it's my first time reading or thinking of 45 yrs old man as not that old, with his wit and humor I started imagining him in his mid-twenties. His humorous banter with his wife was a huge part of what I loved about this book. The only think I didn't like about it was his reaction and behavior when he discovered the truth, but I realized it was the blindness created by rage, because he realized his mistake afterward. I started crying waterfalls when he first got mad at her, then when went to her and started reading the letter she left him, and his reaction afterward, how he grieved and such. I also liked the fact that he didn't hesitate to cry in front of his wife, or admit a moment of weakness. Plus I cried buckets when his sister Dora showed up and pulled him to rights, that scene sent one thought to my head that was so endearing that kept playing in my head over and over "No matter how old he was he will always be her little brother, and she his big sister"

Sophie was as she and her husband described her an Angel, her whole attitude throughout the book was perfect, endearing, charming, kind and lovable. I loved how she bantered with him, both of them were s witty and humorous that I was chuckling throughout most of the book. I liked how she cared about everyone she crossed baths with, like the governess, the small girl: and it was my first time reading in a book the ugly reality of some of the penniless homeless children at the time and I'm sorry to say that there are still many sick people in this world who use innocent children and rid them of their innocence in such an early age. Even though Sophie's situation and story wasn't as dire as some I have read in other books but it left me sobbing, the author just had a way with words and emotions that left you feeling even if the feelings weren't stated in letter but in actions she described.

- I have to admit I hated the butler/valet, at first I thought she would have a pirate-like friend, and at some point I actually thought he might be jealous of her because maybe he was gay or something. But anyway what he did was just over the line, it's not like he was the one marrying the women so why all the investigation.

Overall, *thumps up* A great story and definitely worth reading

Whisper Falls (Destiny, #3) By Toni Blake

Whisper Falls (Destiny, #3)Whisper Falls by Toni Blake
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Okay this is my first novel by Toni Blake and I have to say WOW! I'm not much of a contemporary fan, but from time to time some books intrigue and attract me, and of course it apply to this book.

I'm so much into the gap of a huge tough guy with the petite pretty girl (I'm a small stature person, so it keeps in a positive mind, maybe I will find my huge tough handsome guy XD). Personally I loved ever second of this book, I liked both the Hero and the Heroine, they both faced hardships that came in different forms and get passed them. I have to say I liked Tessa, she was the typical angel in here, the petite angel who saves his life and soul, but the author didn't picture her cheesy or cliche she was amazingly solid and normal, and I'm describing her in these two words because yeah she's an angel but she's real not some conjured up fantasy. I know it's bit confusing, but in a way I kind of connected to Tessa, yeah she's just a character not a real person, but she seemed real to me.

I liked the Hero as well, Lucky was simply the sweet and cheeky tough guy, I loved how he painted for her, her own helmet, how he made a daisy chain for her, and what he did for her at the end. Maybe the only regret I had in this book, was his hesitation to pursue Tessa at the beginning, and how thing wounded up between them nearing the end. I'm just glad he solved both cases. Lucky was such an amazing guy, both as a dad and a lover, I'm a sucker for tough guys with mellow hearts and lucky was exactly that, the way he went about it to create his sons room, how he took care of her when she was sick, and Oh lets not forget their loving making, it was hot hot hot! especially the outdoors XD Okay I'm not saying it's my first time reading about I couple who did it outside, there is plenty of those scenes in HR but in contemporary I guess this is a first for me ^^

- What I liked as well how things eventually worked out for Lucky and his connection to his family and rest of the town, though I was put out at first that his brothers didn't react as his parents, but I liked how eventually the worked it out between them.

Crystal Cove (Friday Harbor, #4) By Lisa Kleypas

Crystal Cove (Friday Harbor, #4)Crystal Cove by Lisa Kleypas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I delayed the reading of this books for months! first I couldn't imagine how magic would make an appearance in this book, and to tell the truth I felt hesitant. Anyway now I have read it ^^

Well, this certainly had a unique sense, more like the magic in it was more vivid and apparent, unlike the previous books that contained magical moments or best-friend-kind-of -ghost, however this one was fast, honestly I was shocked how quickly I finished some chapters. Of course it contained the climax & impact but it was fastly developed.

The main characters were entertaining, especially the Hero; which is something I didn't expect. He was a mix of nerdy geeky genius and hot sexually appealing man, commanding and playful, and due to all the this mixture he was adorable, oh yeah and he was my first with crazy fetishes XD. In the Heroine's case I think she had more impact in the previous book than this more.

- I would have loved to have seen more of the previous characters & would have loved an Epilogue (I'm getting addictive to epilogues, they are my favorite part of the books)

- I hated the heroine's mom, she was such a self-centered bi***.

Overall, *thumps up* it's been a while since I read Lisa Kleypas, I'm missing her books

My Contradictory Feelings In Books

Don't you have some conflicted feelings toward book? like when you finish a book you feel both happy and melancholy? or when you reach a certain chapter you want to continue but afraid of what might come next? Well these Do happen to me.

Case One: (When finishing a book)

Mostly after I finish some books I feel either:

Satisfied and Happy

Melancholy

Excited about the sequel (if there is one)

I just can't help these conflicted emotions, I'm happy for the characters that they found their HEA and that I reached the end of the book, but later I turn melancholy because I feel like I lost a best friend, or because I don't know what to read next.

Case Two: (Trepidation in the middle of a book)

Don't you sometime feel nervous or hesitant to continue reading, knowing the book with have a HEA not withstanding? Depending on the book I think I feel it a lot recently. Like I'm reading but you have a feeling, you just Know that something bad is going to happening t ruin their happiness and crumble any progress the characters might have done, well that makes me nervous and start feeling bad myself,, which also makes me take a break from reading.

So far those why sometimes when I read a book I'm either slow as a snail or as if I was in a car race, flying through the pages ^^

Duchess in Love (Duchess Quartet, #1) by Eloisa James

Duchess in Love (Duchess Quartet, #1)Duchess in Love by Eloisa James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

First I want to say it took me a long while to finish this book because I was busy adjusting to my work (I'm new at it^^)

You can say I didn't have any practically favorite characters, but instead I had favorites stories. From my perspective I divided the book to 3 segments, one is the main story that's focused on the main couple, our esteemed Duke and his Duchess. Two was about her best friend Lady Esme and the fiancee the Marquess, three is her other friend Lady Carola and Tuppy. I liked the first and last ones. It was nice to see the development between the married couple, like the main ones who were married for 12 yrs! but havent seen each other all this time, only to realize that each one became a paragon of beauty in each other's eye. the Third couple was the most adorable and foolish couple, and I liked how the author shed light of the other couples without stealing the light from the main ones. However the second couple were the one I honestly found distasteful, not from a story or writing perspective, but from a personal one, like I can't imagine my fiancee being together with my own best friend! since the beginning I hated the Marquess, he was such a hypocrite and oh-so-self-righteous like it was fine for him to flirt with the best friend but it wasn't fine for his betrothed to flirt with her own husband?!

- Oh yeah one of the most amusing and awkward scenes that kinda stuck to me was the introduction, since then I kept wondering didn't the heroine feel awkward introducing the men to each other one as her husband and the other as her fiance?

- I have to say the scene when Esme's husband died I shed couple of tears and literally couldn't see what I have been reading.

I way things ended were nice and smooth, I liked the epilogue and it showed us that Esme had her baby like Gina ^^

Cruel Beauty By Rosamund Hodge

Cruel BeautyCruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Many people recommended this book to me, from GR's and out. I have to say that it was an amazing story and certainly a bit different from what I usually read.

Cruel Beauty is a fictional fantasy romance a but a girl who since childhood was raise to kill her future husband, and the story begins one day before the wedding. I have to say I annoyed my friend relentlessly to dig up some spoilers (I'm a spoiler lover) but she stingy. So all I could was develop theories about the characters and their origin; because the main characters were the mystery to me, like Who is Shade? Who is Ignifex? What's their relation? Who will she end up with? and man I developed theories a lot XD

The story was a twist from a couple, mainly the beauty and the beast, and one reviewer wrote it also have hints of Rumpelstiltskin and Blue Beard, and that is true too. At first like the Heroine I hated Ignifex "The Gentle Lord" but I started to like and love him, since the start he gave me the impression of a tussled-haired charmingly boyish teenager XD

I have to admit I can't remember where I hated that many characters in a book. First I hated the Father and the Aunt, then Ignifex, then Shade, then the sister, and then Nyx. But to make things clear I didn't hate them all through the book but on some parts.

It was an interesting and enthralling read, and some of the mysteries were still not answered properly I think, but that's just another charm of this book. I loved the ending, but hated that the book didn't contain an epilogue, it definitely needs one: Like how will she explain to everyone that she came back home with the guy? or how will they react if they knew his real identity? or is she ever going to tell them? ( I was plagued by these questions for hours)

Walking On Air (Valance Family, #1) by Catherine Anderson

Walking On Air (Valance Family, #1)Walking On Air by Catherine Anderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First I want to say I sooooooo envied the characters. As Expected of Catherine Anderson, her stories are so lovely I keep on either grinning like a fool or sighing like a lovesick pup.

This stories was a bit different than her usual, I'm not saying she doesn't go toward fantasy, she does. But this time it contained more, with the angles and the ghost.

The Hero was my most favorite thing in this book, he was so compelling that I couldn't just stand there and not like him. I just liked how honest, kind, caring, and loving he was. Ho he interacted with Nan and the kids, the dog and the old man. I loved the make shift family they made together, and that's what I envied them, I always imagined myself with strangers with no blood ties but who are a family in all the right ways.

- Since this is a series I'm a bit curious about the sequel, like who would it be about? Is it the boy, the girl or someone else?

- I liked the angel Gabriel, how Gabe made the impression that he thought of him as a friend.

Overall, *thumps up* it's a great book, adorable, funny and enchanting. And sorry for the short review, I'm too sleepy to write or think.

Say Yes to the Marquess (Castles Ever After, #2) By Tessa Dare

Say Yes to the Marquess (Castles Ever After, #2)Say Yes to the Marquess by Tessa Dare
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As Expected from the lovely Tessa Dare, this was phenomenal.

I loved everything about this book, I'm not saying the story or the theme of the already betrothed to the brother is new or unique, but Tessa Dare made every single corner in it unique, I liked all the character especially the main ones.

I liked the Heroine because of the way she was, yes she was pushed around by her family a bit, but she bears with it for love, if not for that then I don't think she would have. I liked every moment she was with the Hero, how they both were special to each other, and they both loved each other since childhood without knowing that it was love.

I Loved the Hero, in a way he was so cute, like a cuddly bear. He was kind and thoughtful and personally I thought f his as a beautiful human being. I liked how he thought so high f the heroine, how he in a way worshiped her, and felt that it was strange that people didn't build a shrine dedicated to her XD. I loved the scene where he showed her all the music, the cakes and such, I loved the hot scenes where they kissed and made love because the author made it in a way that it was intense and pure in an emotional sense, and I liked how he told her that she was beautiful and for years he have been desiring her, oh that was a scene I really truly envied the heroine for.

- like some books, here I liked the secondary characters, especially the youngest sister and Bruiser, I loved how the youngest sister because attached to the hero, even more than her sisters, and I'm really curious about her story if there will be any.

Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover (The Rules of Scoundrels, #4) By Sarah MacLean

Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover (The Rules of Scoundrels, #4)Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover by Sarah MacLean
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It took me a while to start this book, it's just that somehow for some reason I was afraid to start. But now I finished.

I liked the book, but I won't go as far as to say it's my favorite, My favorites by Sarah Maclean are Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake from the Love By Numbers series, and No Good Duke Goes Unpunished from The Rules of Scoundrels series.

Since the Previous series Love by Numbers I was curious abut Georgiana, and I won't deny the shock I received when I knew she was the mysterious Chase, and the only thing I could think of was WOW!, like she's amazing, she went all the way from being a single mo at the age of 19 to an owner and founder of one of London's most successful gaming hell's. What a women! ^^

And Duncan was in a way similar to the other owners but a bit different, if I need to compare him to someone it would be to Cross, in a way he gave the same impression, because Bourne and Temple are more ruthless. He was the kind who sets his sight on something he goes and gets it, most of the book pictured him chasing after something or someone.

What I most liked in this book were the secondary characters:

- The 3 other owners of the club were hilarious, like some matchmaking mama, in a way they wanted to pay Chase back, because she had a huge part in helping all three of them.

- I liked her daughter Caroline, she was smart and witty for her age, and she was the thing that solved the " I'm not fit for you" issue

Silver Thaw (Mystic Creek, #1) By Catherine Anderson

Silver Thaw (Mystic Creek, #1)Silver Thaw by Catherine Anderson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It has been a while since I read a new story by Catherine Anderson, and really what a book.

One of the things I love about Catherine Anderson is her heroes. They are so gentle and kind, practically life-savers, and this book was n different, I loved Jeb he was everything a woman wanted a man to be, and instant melting of his heart toward the little girl was a huge bonus to his character. I loved the moments when he discovered that he had a mother complex XD and when he called a part of his anatomy George XD, these were my most memorable scenes in this book based on Humor. But all his scenes with Chloe were my favorite, also when he introduced them to his family and then we had plenty of family scenes, I just love family scenes.

Amanda was like the rest of CA's Heroines, she was in pain, in bondage, in torture, and her hero became her savior literally and emotionally. I'm afraid to say cases like Amanda's really do happen in real life, but seldom they end with someone like Jeb, which to me symbolize a soothing palm to a tortured soul. Jeb was my favorite character in this book, that's why I don't have much to say about Amanda, everything about her was true and to be expected, her anxieties, her fear of men at first, her reluctance toward intimacy, the only thing I can say I'm glad Jeb found her.

Many good things happened in this book, and it honestly taught me that in some cases by meeting even one person, that meeting can change your whole life completely

The Ugly Duckling Debutante (The House of Renwick, #1) By Rachel Van Dyken

The Ugly Duckling Debutante (The House of Renwick, #1)The Ugly Duckling Debutante by Rachel Van Dyken
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is my first book by this author, to tell the truth it was god but not that great.

In here I liked the Heroine more than the Hero, she was like a solid pillar that can't be tipple, she might get bruised and scratch but she will never fall or crumble. But the Hero was a different matter, throughout the book he sounded like a hypocrite: he wants he, but says he doesn't. He demands her trust, but doesn't give his. He was so afraid of pain, rejection and humiliation, and never gave a second thought about how she felt or what she wanted.

Honestly, I think the Hero was given a huge slack at the end, he deserved a bit more for what he did to her, but what did he get .. nothing. The Heroine was a paragon of forgiveness, he killed a man and she stuck with him, she discovered the dead man was her real father, and still she stayed with him. And HIM!! he discovered she was a bastard and poof he's gone like he was the victim and it was there second day as a married couple. I really hated him at that part cause he ruined the whole thing, when they finally became happy together.

The second best thing in this book, after the heroine, was that it was quick. The chapters were quick and short, no over embellishing the details and such matters, it was a good balance.

The Winter King (Weathermages of Mystral, #1) By C.L. Wilson

The Winter King (Weathermages of Mystral, #1)The Winter King by C.L. Wilson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow!!!! simply amazing.

I have delayed reading this book for a while, but I'm both glad I did and not so glad. It has surpassed all my expectations, for it was that phenomenal, I was happy that I delayed it because it gave you the feeling it won't be an easy book to walk by, and it wasn't. I was not happy that I delayed because after I got int the book I just couldn't stop, the story was so compelling, so picturesque and vivid that I wanted to see those people in real life, their palaces, and everything.

The Heroine was a heroine from the beginning of the book till the very end, and for a change she saved the day, not prince charming, well in this case not King charming. My feelings for her varied through the book, from sympathy toward what she suffered at the hands of her father, and the continuous attempt on her life, to pride for every time she faced everything head on. I loved her attitude toward Krysti the orphan boy, who was more of her shadow and more of a brother than her actually brother might ever be. I loved how she expressed her wants with her husband, and how she did everything for him.

The Hero was like a ticking bomb, counting the days till the end of the countdown. I liked how he was so enthralled by the Heroine. At the beginning his distrust and hatred were understandable, but I disliked the insistent nagging that stayed with him to the very end, he should have gone with his gut feeling and trusted the Heroine was faithful to him, but it was logical all the same and gave the story the twists and curves it needed, and I was eternally grateful to the author that she didn't prolong the mis-consumption of the betrayal long like some authors do. I liked how he amended his behaviors at the middle of the book, and how he could never deny his desire for her. In most books in the climax scene it's always the heroine who is in danger but I liked how the author reversed the playing roles, having the heroine save the day.

- I'm really curious to see the Hero or any Winterfolk in real, cause never in any book I read have a hero crossed over 6 feet something, but this one was over 7 feet, I can't imagine how big of a giant her was

- I want to point how I really hate Hate her father and just want to kill him

- The feeling I have toward her brother can only be called disgust

- And I wish I was half as strong as the Heroine, she might be my idol for sometime.

This is one the only short story by the amazing Anne Gracie, and you people already know or don't know yet, I LOVE Anne Gracie and all her books.

This story was no different, it was interesting, entertaining and lovely, it had lots of promise but regretfully it was too short, both in the story and out, for it was plenty eventful for just one day. Yeah pretty eventful I can't imagine myself in the Heroine's place no matter how I try it XD

Almost a Scandal (The Reckless Brides, #1) By Elizabeth Essex

Almost a Scandal (The Reckless Brides, #1)Almost a Scandal by Elizabeth Essex
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my first book by Elizabeth Essex, and I have to say it was entertaining, interesting and ... educational.

I liked the passionate nature of the heroine, how she took desperate measure to save her family's honor and to achieve he dream. Cross-dressing you can say in one of my favorite sub-genre's cause the results are always interesting XD and here as well it was.for in a way I understand the subjugation that family and society have on women when their interest are considered a problem because of their gender. Back to the heroine, I liked how she fitted in the ship, how she made a place and a reputation for herself in a matter of days, how she took the younger boys under her wing and took care of her. I have to say the word that comes to mind that would fit her is Tenacious .

In the case of the Hero, he was supposed to give the image of the strict cold commander, yet with time he obviously wasn't cold, he took care of his job, his people, and all that belongs to him. I liked how at the end he was the one who professed his love first, it showed also throughout the book how he deeply cared about her, but I did't really realize and believe at the beginning that in truth he had a crush on her since the start. But it was nice to see their development, even thought her interlude was short lived it was intense, poignant and lovely to read. The scenes their had with their sexual vibes on pull blast was hot, I liked the first conversation they had at the "gunroom" I guess, even though nothing happened.

The moments I really liked other than the sexy scenes, first were after she woke up from her fever and had her conversation with her captain and her teammate, it showed that they cared about her. Also I liked her reunion with her dad it actually made me tear up.

My only regret is that it didn't have an epilogue I would have died to see what would have happened when she goes back on Audacious and all her crew members would react knowing that she was a girl and know their captain's wife XD

The only problem I suffer that it contained plenty of navy and shipping vocabulary that was a bit confusing to understand, but well I fared well I would say ^^

Worth the Fall (The McKinney Brothers, #1) By Claudia Connor

Worth the Fall (The McKinney Brothers, #1)Worth the Fall by Claudia Connor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was recommended this book but I seriously want to say WOW, absolutely amazing.

I loved everything about this book, the single parent aspect is a favorite sub-genre of mine, and the kids were just so cute.

I loved the kids, I loved Matt, I loved his big cuddly family XD

These characters remind me of a book by Catherine Anderson called Baby Love, where the heroine is emotionally distrustful, and the guy was in a bad shape at the beginning, till he start taking care of the single mom and her child then viola he's happy again, and he's the charismatic dad. This story had the same theme which created a wonderful story.

- I loved the way the kids attached themselves to Matt, emotionally and literally.

- I loved how gentle he was to the kids, how special he made them feel especially Annie, in fact I loved all his moments with the kids

- I thought it was kind of weird but cute to fall in love with a pregnant woman

- Loved Loved Loved the father/daughter dance at the end

- I simply loved Matt, especially when he was with the kids, when he proposed, when he was with her, when he was with her when she gave birth, when he became possessive about his baby and the rest of his kids

I can't stop saying the word I loved it, cause currently that's the only thought that stuck in my brains, I just loved the whole book, which obviously now introduced me to a new amazing author ^^

Overall *all thumps up* Loved it XD

Lord of Scoundrels (Scoundrels, #3) By Loretta Chase

Lord of Scoundrels (Scoundrels, #3)Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my first book by Loretta Chase, and since there was a lot advertisements and mentions about this particular book since it's republication recently, I got interested and read it.

I liked it ^^

The main characters were entertaining, particularly the women folk, like the main character and her grandmother, Those two were fantastic. The Heroine was witty, intelligent and bold, I liked how she wasn't fazed my most thing, only the important heart deep emotions concerning her husband. I liked how she proved to him that she liked him and wanted him, and it's wasn't just talk, she proved it to him *smirk*.

As for the Hero I felt sorry for him, he was just a child but the prejudice he suffered made him to disguise himself in a gruff, cruel and cold exterior. He felt like he was such an ugly person and couple of times described himself as the beast with his beauty. The heroine did her best to convince him otherwise, and I loved how the author mention every time the heroine said something it affected him internally, more like earth shattered him.

- I loved when she finally made him succumb to their ... *ahem* wants *giggle*

- The part when he went after his son was touching, I loved how in the end the author said that the boy was butter in his hand and he knew it, the arrogant bragging father.

- I loved the violent head smashing XD
